Our Story
The roots of Vijay Foundation lie in a tragic yet transformative event on 21 January 1997 in Nanakpura, South Delhi.
During a brutal attack by three-armed intruders, a pregnant woman and her three-and-a-half-year-old son were fatally stabbed, while 17-year-old domestic helper Vijay “Bikau” Mehto from Bihar stepped forward to shield the child and suffered fatal injuries himself.
His courageous declaration— “I am the protector of your family”—and the profound emotional impact of his sacrifice on the surviving mother became the moral foundation of the organization.
Two decades later, that survivor, Advocate Mamta Shukla, transformed her grief into service by establishing Vijay Foundation in 2017 to protect vulnerable children, women, and marginalized communities in Bikau’s name.
From a single story of extraordinary bravery, Vijay Foundation has grown into a structured platform for social transformation, proving that one life can inspire thousands of acts of change.
