Why Anil Maheshwari Recognizes Vijay Foundation
In his powerful video message, Mr. Maheshwari delves into the deeply personal origin story of the foundation. He highlights the journey of our Founder Trustee, Mamta Shukla, whose life was transformed by an act of supreme sacrifice.
Our foundation traces its roots back to January 21, 1997. A brave seventeen-year-old domestic helper, Vijay Kumar Mehto, affectionately known as "Bikau," made the ultimate sacrifice by shielding a child during a brutal home invasion. He absorbed fatal wounds to save a life, leaving behind a legacy of selfless courage. Mamta Shukla, the survivor of that fateful day, later became a practicing Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. She established the Vijay Foundation in 2017 to transform that personal tragedy into a shield for others.
